County may not pave any roads in 2026

A year after the Union County Engineer’s Office said the 2025 summer paving program might not happen, the issue hasn’t gotten much better.

In fact, for the second time in a row, Engineer Jeff Stauch told the county commissioners that this year’s paving program might not happen at all. That’s due in part to overall costs and also to money that was budgeted and counted on from the state not coming through.

“Our paving program was going to be thin regardless, even with the (state funds), it may be non-existent,” he said.
