U.C. nets nearly $6M in interest in 2025

Union County’s investment income hit a new record last year.
Andy Smarra, the county treasurer, updated the commissioners on the county’s investment portfolio during the quarterly investment advisory committee last week, saying the figure hit nearly $6 million in 2025.
“We had earnings in aggregate for the full year of just under $6 million, of which $5.3 million of that went into the general fund,” he said. “I thought we would see something less, our average portfolio was a little bit higher.”
