North Union suffers road loss to Shawnee, falls to third place in Mad River division

North Union went on the road on Friday and was defeated 40-37 by Shawnee in a Central Buckeye Conference boys basketball game.
The Wildcats (5-3 CBC, 6-9 overall) trailed by one (17-16) at the end of the first half but a 13-3 run in the third quarter gave them a 29-20 lead with three minutes left in the frame. Ethan Monroe led the charge with six points while Dainon Lindsey added five points. Shawnee (6-3, 7-11) rallied with an eight-point spurt to close out the quarter and then scored first four points of the fourth quarter to earn a 33-29 lead. A steal and layup by Jaxon Jolliff and two free throws by Lindsey got North Union within one at 36-35 but it could not get the comeback victory. Lindsey netted 11 points to pace North Union while Monroe finished with nine points.

North Union won the junior varsity game 59-24.
Ben Newell posted 13 points while Dylan Asher, Brevyn Martino and Hayze Miller each had eight points.
