A vacant property is getting a second chance after students from Tri-Rivers Career Center demolished the old structure to make way for a brand new home on the plot of land.

As part of the 469 Park Blvd. Housing Initiative, students in the Tri-Rivers Construction Trades Academy recently partnered with the City of Marion and the Marion Land Bank to demolish the old vacant property on Park Boulevard in Marion, with plans to build a new home in its place.

A groundbreaking is being held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. to celebrate the hands-on learning of students transforming the neighborhood. The opportunity serves as a way for students to get real-world experience and earn credentials while giving back to the community.
