Pair of NU runners place in top five during Celtic Clash

North Union had a pair of cross country runners earn a top five finish on Saturday at the Dublin Jerome Celtic Clash.

Kailin McElroy finished second in the Green Division girls race with a time of 20 minutes, 19.49 seconds while Ben Bonnell was fifth in the Green Division boys race with a time of 17:28.16.

The boys team finished eighth in the 21-team field with a point total of 214 points.

The Lady Cats did not have enough runners to field a complete team.

Scoring runners for the North Union boys were Jack Hoover (18th, 18:41), Mack Marlette (40th, 18:41), Zach Meyer (51st, 18:51) and Colton Smith (130th, 19:58).

Also competing was Philip Ardery (244th, 23:07).

Josie Held was 136th in the girls race with a time of 25:56.

In the middle school boys race, the Wildcats’ Joseph Wiley was the individual winner with a time of 11:07.78 while Harper Vogelsang finished fifth in the girls race with a time of 14:56.14.
