NU’s Kennedy Harrah claims all-time assist record in home volleyball match against Reynoldsburg

Kennedy Harrah, a senior setter on the North Union volleyball team, recently etched her name in the Lady Cat record book.
Harrah became North Union’s all-time leader in assists, surpassing the mark of 1348 assists set by Morgan Chapman, who played from 2011-14.
Through last Saturday’s match against Reynoldsburg, Harrah has accumulated 1419 assists as a varsity player.
The setter is the middle of the three-part process that can put points on the board, starting with passes from the back row and ending with a hitter getting a kill.
“Our passers play a big role and so do our hitters,” Harrah said. “I am speechless in getting the record and extremely thankful to everybody who helped me get to this point.”
Harrah added she never really thought about setting the assist record but is proud to able to see her name on the wall of record holders.
“It is an amazing feeling to have my name on the wall and be a part of my team,” she said. “Our community, coaches and teammates have helped me to get to this point.”
“The honor is well deserved,” NU Head Coach Alexis Maenz said. “She had worked really hard and had some really good people around her to help her get to this spot. The record was probably in the back of her mind but she is a team-first player.”
Getting to the record is not quite as simple as bumping the ball to the hitters for a kill.
“It is a combination of her knowledge of the game and her all-out effort,” Maenz said. “She sacrifices her body and is willing to do anything to get a good ball for our hitters, whether it is a good pass or not.”
