Sheriff’s Report

From Union County Sheriff’s Office reports:

Deputies and units from the Northern Union County Joint Fire District were called to a residence in the 14000 block of Miller Road at 2:05 p.m., June 2, for a report of a person overdosing. The person was transported to Marion General Hospital and a report was taken.

A report of harassing phone calls and text messages was investigated at a campground in the 20000 block of Route 347 at 4:54 p.m., June 2. No report was taken.

Deputies responded to a home in the 27000 block of Claibourne Road at 4:04 p.m., June 3, to investigate a report of a domestic dispute between family members. No report was taken.

Deputies along with units from the Northwestern Joint Fire District and the Perry Township Fire Department responded to a home in the 23000 block of Route 347 for a near-drowning at 6:25 p.m., June 3. A report was taken.

Deputies responded to the intersection of Route 347 and Patrick Brush Run Road at 9:51 a.m., June 4, to investigate a property damage crash involving a 2020 Dodge Ram. A crash report was taken.

Deputies were sent to a residence in the 32000 block of Cobb Harriman Road at 4:04 p.m., June 4, to help settle a dispute between a boyfriend and girlfriend. Parties were separated for the night and no report was taken.

Deputies were dispatched to a home in the 19000 block of Cunningham Arbela Road at 6:47 p.m., June 4, for a person threatening self-harm. No report was taken.

Patrick L. Brust, 38, of West Mansfield, was arrested and charged with OVI and domestic violence following a call to a domestic dispute. At 7:28 p.m., June 4, deputies were dispatched to a home in the 20000 block of Lunda Road to help settle a dispute between ex-husband and wife. Brust was transported to the Tri-County Regional Jail and a report was taken.

A deputy went to the North Central Correctional Institution at 8:19 a.m., June 5, to take custody of Jacob A. Smith, 30, of Richwood, for an outstanding arrest warrant. He was transported to the Tri-County Regional Jail.

A deputy was sent to the 12000 block of Bethlehem-Claibourne Road at 5:48 a.m., June 6, to investigate a property damage crash involving a Nissan Altima striking multiple deer. A report was taken.

Charles F. Berry Jr, 55, of West Mansfield, was cited for violation of a railroad crossing following a property damage crash. At 3:08 p.m., June 7, Berry was driving a 2023 Jeep Gladiator at the intersection of Route 347 and Storms Road and struck a railroad crossing guard. A deputy responded to the scene and a report was taken.

A deputy assisted the Richwood Police with a dispute at a residence on East Bomford Street at 3:25 p.m., June 7, in Richwood. The Richwood Police Department handled the investigation.

From Marysville Division of Police reports:

Nicholas S. Steele, 27, of Richwood, was cited for failure to assure clear distance ahead following a property damage crash. At 7:01 p.m., June 4, Steele was driving a 2005 Ford 500 on West Fifth Street behind a 2008 Acura TL that was attempting to turn north towards Grand Avenue. Steele failed to maintain a safe distance and rear-ended the Acura.
