It is summertime and there is lots to do. We will continue to have our daily, weekly and monthly activities throughout the summer. Creative Crochet class and our sewing class will be taking the summer off. Classes will resume on Sept. 4.

Memorial Meals have been having some good lunches lately. Stop in or call Connie at 614-9494382 to see how you can get some of these delicious lunches. Join us for a new caregiver support group sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association. We meet on the first Tuesday of each month here at the Richwood Civic Center at 10 a.m. Alzheimer’s Association support groups, conducted by trained facilitators, are a safe place for individuals caring for a loved one with dementia to develop a support system, exchange practical information on challenges and possible solutions, talk through issues, share feelings, needs and concerns and learn about community resources. Register by calling 800272-3900.

Summerfest is on Saturday, Aug. 9 and we have the pleasure of being part of all the fun that is going on. We will be hosting a Bingo run at 9 a.m. starting at the beach pavilion. Street legal golf carts, ATV’s, side by sides or bicycles are also welcome. Registration is $20 per person if registered by Aug. 8 and registration the day of the run will be $25. Earn an extra card by bringing canned goods for REAP (limit of 2 cans per person). All proceeds will go to the Richwood Civic Center. Stop in the office to register early. We have some great upcoming events happening. Trips are a big hit with our seniors and we have another fun opportunity for you to enjoy this Summer. Leaving July 15 at 2 p.m., we will go enjoy a behind the scenes tour of the Tecumseh overnight play. We will then go eat dinner at a local restaurant (at your cost) and check into our hotel rooms. We leave the hotel to go see this historical play at 8 p.m. and return to our hotel after the play. On July 16 we will leave the hotel and eat breakfast at a local restaurant (at your cost) and return home by 11:30 a.m. The cost is $185 for double occupancy and $225 for a single occupancy. $50 deposit is due by June 24 with the balance due by July 8. Please stop in the office to reserve your ticket for this fun evening.

The Richwood Civic center recently returned from its May mystery trip to Freshwater Farms just outside Urbana. The trip saw members learning about fish raising and sustainable farming. Above, members observe one of the many fish hatcheries at Freshwater Farms. According to its website, Freshwater Farms is the largest indoor fish hatchery in the state of Ohio. The next mystery trip is scheduled for Tuesday, June 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Photo submitted)
