Wildcats claim first win of the season on home diamond against visiting Freddies

North Union’s baseball team secured a season- opening 5-1 win over Fredericktown at home late last week.

“It was a big first win for the guys,” NU Head Coach Chris Roseburrough said. “It was a big win for a young team and a good start to the season.”

Despite early morning showers, the Wildcats were able to overcome stagnant play in early innings.

They tallied four runs in the latter part of the game to win.

“(I) wasn’t sure what to expect,” senior Tyler Krebehenne said. “We have a really young team with not a lot of experience, so it is good to see this [win].”

Pitching from North Union’s end was less than stellar, according to Roseburrough….
