Lady Cats suffer loss in home opener to Riverside

North Union had some success early and then late in its softball opener on Monday at home against Riverside.

The good things that did happen during the blustery weather conditions were offset by Riverside’s extra-base hitting that resulted in the Lady Cats suffering an 11-7 loss.

“We made too many mistakes and had a few hiccups,” Head Coach Pat Grove said.

The Pirates totaled 14 hits, including three doubles and four triples, in putting together several multi-run innings.

North Union put the ball in play throughout the game but could not keep the ball out of the opponents gloves.
