Glenn Thomas Edgar

Glenn Thomas Edgar, age 62, of Marysville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 3, 2025, in the emergency room at Memorial Hospital.

A dedicated member of the Honda of America team since February 1982, Glenn retired in 2018 after a remarkable career that saw him rise from the assembly line to become a coordinator in Quality Control. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were as strong as the drive that defined his athletic career.

After retiring, Glenn found joy in working at The Ridge Golf and Gardens, where he embraced the game he loved. Throughout his life, he dedicated countless hours to coaching boys’ basketball at the youth level for Marysville, Fairbanks, and North Union Schools. His passion for the game, and for developing young athletes, was a testament to the values of teamwork and perseverance that he lived by.

A 1981 graduate of Marysville High School, Glenn was a standout athlete, excelling in golf, basketball, and track. His senior year was a high point in his athletic journey, with his high school golf team, under the guidance of his father, Tom Edgar, finishing fifth in the state of Ohio. Glenn continued to show his love for sports at Walsh University in North Canton, where he played both golf and basketball.

Off the course and court, Glenn was known for his unwavering devotion to his family. Whether he was cheering on Ohio State or following the PGA Tour, Glenn’s heart was always with those he loved. His artistic flair, evident in his drawings, and his ever-present sense of humor made him a beloved figure in every room he entered. He was the ultimate teammate—loyal, compassionate, and always willing to lend a hand.

Glenn was born on October 17, 1962, in Marysville, to Thomas F. and Glenna Parmenter Edgar, who survive. He leaves behind his wife of 39 years, Kelly Runkle Edgar, whom he married on August 9, 1985, at the United Methodist Church in Bellefontaine; his son, Wesley T. (Cortlyn) Edgar of Kenton; his daughter, MacKenzie Edgar of Columbus; two granddaughters, Lydia and Paige; his brother, Bill (Anne) Edgar of Sylvania; nieces, Gabby and Jordan; his mother-in-law, Sherrill Runkle of Bellefontaine; his sister-in-law, Kathy (Steve) Runge of Hilliard; his nephew, Cole; an aunt, Florence Edgar; and his canine companions, Sadie and Brexleigh. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, John L. “Bud” Runkle.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Glenn’s life from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2025, at Underwood Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in Glenn’s memory to the American Heart Association or a charity of choice.
