NU grapplers advance to district tournament

North Union advanced two wrestlers to the district wrestling tournament following sectional competition at Ridgedale.
A total of 29 programs competed in the tournament last Saturday.
Wyatt Stacklin, competing in the 106-pound division and Heath Ferguson wrestled at 157 pounds.
They both finished fourth in their weight class and will be in this weekend’s district tournament at Troy High School.
Stacklin split his four matches, while Ferguson posted victories in four of his six bouts.
Landan Lang (132) placed sixth, winning two of his five matches, but did not advance to the district.
Winning matches, but not advancing were Ben Bonnell (144), Cory Gillium (150), Braden O’Reilly (165) and Jack Kemp (138).
Also competing were Collin Welch (126), Kingston Alvarado (175), Kory Ransome (190) and Jason Rankin (215).
William Bogardus (126) and Bryson Griffith (165) both competed for Fairbanks, but did not advance.
Elgin claimed the sectional title with 232 points followed by Mechanicsburg (201) in second place and Northmor (168.5) in third place.
North Union was 12th with 73.5 points.
