UCHD hopes restructuring will meet changing needs of workforce

 

Officials at the Union County Health Department are working toward a restructure of the agency’s leadership in hope of retaining staff members more easily.

“The workforce we’re dealing with now is radically different than the workforce we’ve dealt with for the past 20 years,” Health Commissioner Jason Orcena said.

In the past, Orcena said, staff members generally only left the health department to pursue leadership positions elsewhere. He said employees rarely left for a lateral shift or career change.

The health commissioner said UCHD now sees employees that are seeking a “quick success ion” and will “leave the minute they stop.”
