Scams targeting area residents

Shortly after 12:20 p.m., on a Tuesday, a 61-year-old Marysville man received a phone call, which police hope will serve as a cautionary tale to other residents.

Police are withholding the man’s name because he is a victim, but want the contents of the call to serve as a warning to other residents.

The caller told the man that he was from a law enforcement agency working with the Union County Juvenile/Probate Court.

“It seemed believable because the caller had spoofed the number and it really looked like the call was coming from the actual phone number,” said Capt. Nathan Sachs, leader of Marysville Division of Police’s Special S…
