Veteran expresses appreciation for NUES Veterans Day event

OPINION – Letters to the Editor

 

On behalf of NU area veterans, I want to share my gratitude to our North Union Elementary School for celebrating Veterans Day. Mrs. Tammy Borders (the program organizer) and K through 5th grade students provided a heartfelt “Veterans Day” program. Around 100 veterans sat in front of the packed gym bleachers.

Larry Nibert and Justin Monroe, VFW Post 870 Honor Guard members, presented the Colors and Hillyard Hikers led the Pledge of Allegiance. The National Anthem, under the direction of Mr. Kain Anderson, was sung beautifully by the 5th grade! After 5th grade students Julia Vance and Olivia Arnold welcomed all Veterans, Mrs. Borders introduced each veteran in the audience.
