Lady Cat soccer team tops Bellefontaine for first win of 2026 season

North Union picked up its first win of the season, defeating Bellefontaine 5-1 in Central Buckeye Conference girls soccer action.

The Lady Cats are now 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the CBC.

Head coach Bill Leroy said that despite the overall record his team was right there in regards to how the team was playing.

“I did not feel like I was coaching an 0-5 team,” Leroy said. “We knew in our recent games I felt we were dominant, but just did not close it out. Obviously, we are pretty happy to finally add one to the win column.”

Six different players either had a goal or an assist in the match.

“Our effectiveness as a team at moving the ball and finally finishing is growing,” Leroy said.

Kinley Balzer, who is just now rounding into form after early-season injuries, led the way with two goals and an assist.

Sam Price netted a goal and picked up two assists, while Paisley Jordan and Mya Mays each had a goal.

Earning an assist were Zoni Robinson and Lyra Wigglesworth.

Katie Converse was in goal for North Union and had two saves,

The freshman earned her first high school victory in the net.
