NU gridders clobber Pleasant in opener

For the first time since the 2022 season, the North Union football team will not go into the second week of the campaign looking for its first win.

In each of the last three seasons, the Wildcats lost to Marion Pleasant in their season opener and were once again opening with the Spartans last Friday.

However, this season there was no opening week setback as North Union dominated both offensively and defensively in a 49-7 win.

“It feels good,” North Union head coach Nick Hajjar said of starting the season 1-0. “We have talked about winning the first game of the season all summer, it has been on our board and it has been on the countdown-to-the-season clock.”
