‘In Congress, July 4, 1776…’

One Richwood resident is volunteering to do something a little more special to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.

As suggested by the State of Ohio’s America 250 organizers, Gail DeGood-Guy said she hopes to mark the occasion by reading the Declaration of Independence aloud and in public, just as it was done in the summer of 1776.

“…back in the day, of course, that’s how the Declaration of Independence was announced around the 13 colonies, was by someone standing and reading it, and so they (organizers for Ohio, America 250) want to replicate that,” DeGood-Guy said. “I wouldn’t mind doing that.
