NU FFA members receive top honors
By Emma Justice, North Union FFA Reporter
The 98th Ohio FFA State Convention was held from April 30 to May 1, 2026. During session five of the convention, six North Union FFA members walked the stage to receive the highest honor Ohio FFA Association has to offer, which is receiving the state FFA degree.
Ohio FFA is the largest youth intra-curricular youth organization, with over 25,000 members. The degree is awarded to less than 2% of the membership.
To earn this degree, members must complete a list of requirements in order to be eligible. These requirements include a certain amount of community service hours, chapter leadership and having an SAE (supervised agricultural experience) record book completed. Supervised agricultural experiences can vary anywhere from animal production to placement in an agriculture-related field. Students must also complete at least two years of membership in order to receive the state degree, over 25 hours of community service and be involved in FFA activities and career development events.
