Wildcat baseball team falls to Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets in high scoring contest

North Union could not overcome a pair of high-scoring innings in a 13-10 loss at Mount Vernon on Thursday. The Wildcats (5-19) led 5-1 going into the bottom of the third inning, but Mount Vernon scored seven runs to take an 8-5 lead. North Union rallied to take a 9-8 lead with a three-run fifth inning. Mount Vernon once again took the lead back scoring five runs in the bottom of the fifth. Jace Phipps had three singles to pace North Union while Jaxon Mabery and Charlie Coiwell each had two singles.
