NU track athletes compete in middle school championship

North Union Middle School had several athletes compete in the Ohio High School Athletic Association 7th & 8th Grade State Track Meet on Saturday at Hilliard Darby. Luke Mask earned a pair of second-place finishes. Mask had a toss of 52 feet, 2.75 inches in the shot put and a throw of 171-01 in the discus. Joseph Wiley also was in two events. Wiley finished ninth in the 1600, finishing with a school-record time of four minutes, 47.04 seconds. He also was 11th in the 800 in the time of 2:12.17. The foursome of Layney Wilds, Miri Taylor, Layla Wilds and Finley Ufferman teamed to finish ninth in the girls 4×400 in a school-record time of 4:23.42. Also in the girls 4×400 was a team from Jonathan Alder. Lacey Lovejoy, Ellie Ballard, Lucy Ranly and Addy McDaniel combined to finish 11th in the time of 4:26.11. Bowen Hoffer of Bunsold finished fourth in the boys long jump (19-3.25) and 14th in the 400 (55.44). Triad’s Cayda Millice finished 10th in the girls 1600 in the time of 5:22.74.
