NU competes in CBC middle school track championships

The Central Buckeye Conference recently held its middle school track championships at North Union. Jonathan Alder edged out Shawnee for the girls title, finishing with 98.5 points. Shawnee had 95 points.

Benjamin Logan was third (89.5) and North Union was fourth (71). Winning events for North Union were Finley Ufferman (100, 13.44 seconds) and Layney Wilds (1600, 5:34.50) Shawnee won the boys meet with 114 points while Benjamin Logan was second at 93.4 points. North Union was third with 64.7 points.

North Union’s Joseph Wiley and Luke Mask each won two events. Wiley won the 1600 (4:53.33) and the 800 (2:10.77) while Luke Mask posted wins in the discus (162-1) and shot put (49-8.75).

Other events North Union scored placement points were: Girls 400: Ufferman (second, 1:01.84); Girls 200: Ufferman (second, 27-25); 4×100,​ Trystan Cameron, Miri Taylor, Layla Wilds, Atley Nicholson (third, 57.26); Girls 4×400, Taylor, Clara Stots, Layla Wilds, Layney Wilds (third, 4:41.81); Boys High Jump: Tristan Sonoda (third, 4-10), Evan Meyer (sixth, 4-8); Girls Shot Put: Aubrey Hartings (fourth, 32- 2.25, Emma Huddleston (eighth, 29-7.5); Girls 4×200, Cameron, Layla Wilds, Rilyn Peterson, Atley Nicholson (fifth, 2:00.65); Boys 4×100, Harrison Krebehenne, Jason McCoy, Chance Bragg, Keaton Gosnell (fifth, 51.65); Girls Discus: Hartings (fifth, 79-7), Huddleston (67.10); Girls 4×800, Jordan Shinault, Kaelyn Huff, Taylor, Nunabelle Baker (fifth, 12:124.93); Boys 4×800, Micha Daum, Griffin McCalf, Drake Smith, Kyle Smith (sixth. 11:42.27); Boys 110 hurdles: Sonoda (sixth, 32.46); Boys 4×400, Krebehenne, McCoy, Bragg, Wiley (sixth, 4:06.79); Girls Long Jump: Nicholson (sixth, 12-0.25); Boys Long Jump: Krebehenne (seventh, 14-8.5); Boys 1000: McCoy (eighth, 12.75); Boys 200 hurdles (Sonoda (eighth, 31.52); Boys Pole Vault: Jackson Pederson (eighth, 7-0)
