Leah Cox’s complete game leads Lady Cats past Centerburg in district semifinal

Horse racing has its Triple Crown… the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes.

The North Union softball team had its own triple parlay as it took on Centerburg in a Central District Division V semifinal at third-seeded Centerburg.

The trifecta for the Lady Cats consisted of timely hitting, solid pitching and outstanding defense as they cashed in with a 6-1 victory over the Trojans on Monday.

The win advanced fourth-seeded North Union (21-6) to Thursday’s district final against second-seeded Johnstown (21-6-1).

The game is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Pickerington North High School.
