Sheriff’s Report
From Union County Sheriff’s Office reports:
Therese M. Smith, 28, of Columbus, was cited for failure to control following an injury crash. At 7:43 a.m., April 14, Smith was driving a 2024 Toyota Corolla on Route 31 near Osborne Road and struck a mailbox. One passenger was transported to Memorial Hospital. Deputies and units from the Northern Union County Fire District, Northwestern Joint Fire District and Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the scene and a report was taken.
A deputy assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Washington Township Fire Department with a property damage crash that took place near the intersection of Route 161 and Darby Station at 7:57 p.m., April 15. The Ohio Sate Highway Patrol handled the investigation.
Deputies investigated a report of a 2019 Chevrolet Colorado that was reported stolen from a home in the 31000 block of Hamilton Road at 7:47 a.m., April 16. The truck was later located in Marion and recovered by the Marion Police Department. A report was taken.
Deputies were called to the area of Boundary Road and McPeck Road for a report of a person walking with dogs that were running loose at 11:17 a.m., April 16. As a result of the investigation, the person was experiencing a mental health episode, had wandered away from their home and became lost. The person was returned home to their family, and no report was taken.
Multiple fire departments responded to the 22000 block of Reed Road for a grass fire at 12:26 p.m., April 16. A deputy responded and the fire was contained and extinguished with assistance from the Northwestern Joint Fire District, Marysville Division of Fire and the Allen Township Fire Department. The Northwestern Joint Fire District handled the investigation.
A deputy spoke with a resident from the 21000 block of Route 47 at 5:12 p.m., April 18, regarding a dispute over property. No report was taken.
Vandalism of construction equipment was reported in the 18000 block of Route 47 at 5:47 p.m., April 18. Upon arrival, a deputy did not locate any damage and no report was taken.
Brandon J. Hendrix, 33, Wellington, and Michael D. Miller, 40, of Cleveland, were cited for disorderly contact following a police investigation alongside the Richwood Police Department to a business in the 31000 block of Route 37 for a fight between family members at 8:47 p.m., April 18.
In the area of Marriott Street in Richwood, deputies and units from the Richwood Police Department and Northern Union County Fire District responded for an unconscious male that was later determined to be deceased at 3:41 p.m., April 19. The Union County Coroner’s Office responded and a report was taken.
Deputies responded to the 23000 block of Route 4 regarding a dispute between residents at 4:59 p.m., April 19. No report was taken.
Deputies responded to the 10000 block of Cranberry Drive following up on a 911 abandoned call at 7:47 p.m., April 19. Upon arrival the deputies discovered a domestic dispute between family members. A report was taken.
At 11:01 p.m., Sunday, a deputy went to a home in the 11000 block of Route 4 regarding theft of clothing. No report was taken.
From Marysville Division of Police reports:
Ted R. Shirk, 57, of Richwood, was cited for starting and backing without safety following an injury crash. At 4:20 p.m., April 17, Shirk was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu on Clymer Road and turning left onto Columbus Avenue when his vehicle stalled in the middle of the intersection. Shirk started his car again and drove forward without ensuring safety, causing a collision with a 2017 Toyota Camry that was traveling westbound on Columbus Avenue. The Toyota rolled over into a parking lot and came to a rest upside down and the driver reported minor injury. No one was transported to the hospital.
