Draper helms Lady Cats team after five years away

It has been five years since Dawn Draper was in a dugout and on a field as a softball coach.

Draper had previously spent 22 years as North Union’s head coach before returning this year to lead the Lady Cats.

While pretty much everything went well during her return, there was one thing that was not quite to her liking during North Union’s home opener against Mechanicsburg.

“I noticed as I have gotten older I hate cold weather,” Draper said. “But overall, it was great.”

The best part was the Lady Cats pounding out 16 hits on their way to a 23-1 victory over the Indians.

The game was shortened to five innings by the run rule.
