Three area residents caught up in firearm charges

A trio of area residents have been indicted by the Union County Grand Jury on charges stemming from improper firearm handling. Their arraignments are scheduled for Feb. 11, 2026.

– Jason Allen Bevard, 43, of 14111 Weaver Road. Bevard has been charged with one count each of improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle and having weapons while under disability stemming from a prior conviction of trafficking in cocaine. According to court documents, on Jan. 20, 2026, a Union County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped a suspicious vehicle at Marathon, 303 E. Fifth St. The driver, identified as Bevard, was allegedly nodding off with his face pointing straight down. The deputy knocked on the window and woke up Bevard.
