Opera House has rich history in the village
With the news that the Opera House will be demolished, local historian and Judge Robert Parrott shared his compiled history of the 136-year-old building.
Steeped in history and local lore, the Richwood Opera House has served as a place where its citizens have gathered for generations to pass laws, hold trials, vote, discuss village matters and debate national politics. It is also the place where people have celebrated the Fourth of July and honored their soldiers; where the village has housed its fire department and police force. There have been high school commencement programs, noted speakers, vaudeville productions and motion pictures.
