Lady Cats capture Mad River Title, unbeaten for fifth-straight season

When something is done over and over, it can become mundane as if it is nothing special. North Union girls basketball coach Mitchell Loomis does not subscribe to that train of thought.

“You know, it is a big deal,” Loomis said.

The big deal he is talking about is the Lady Cats going unbeaten in the Mad River Division for a fifth straight year and earning a fifth-straight division title. “It is especially a big deal for our senior players,” Loomis said. “It really is a big accomplishment as they are going to graduate without losing to a Mad River Division opponent.”

North Union last time it lost to a Mad River Division was on Feb. 3, 2021 when it lost 54-41 to Benjamin Logan.
