Cagers fall short to Lakers

By By Bob Putman, Richwood Gazette

North Union struggled to find points in the first and fourth quarters on Tuesday against Central Buckeye Conference rival Indian Lake.

The middle two frames were much more effective for the Wildcats (4-7 overall, 3-2 CBC), but in the end the Lakers (12-2, 5-0) were able to prevail, earning a 49-46 win.

North Union led 41-34 heading into the fourth quarter.

A 7-1 run by the Lakers to start the final stanza got them within one point at 42-41 with five minutes left in the game.

Two free throws from Max White bumped North Union to a 44-41 edge.

However, a three-point goal by Avery Pequignot and layup from Colin Bendler put the Lakers on top at 46-44.
