Saving the bulls

For most people, Black Friday is a day to sit around with a belly full of turkey and do some online shopping, but for staff at Select Sires, the day after Thanksgiving was a race to save ten of its priceless bovines from a fiery death.

On Nov. 28 at 3:34 p.m., a driver on U.S. 42 reported a fire at a barn off of Wells Road. The barn belongs to Select Sires, one of the largest artificial insemination companies in the country that provides high-quality cattle genetics and reproductive services. Inside that particular barn were 10 bulls worth their weight in gold.
