Streng Bridge replacement will adjust angle

Officials are getting closer to a plan for the Streng Road Bridge removal and replacement.

Union County Engineer Jeff Stauch told the county commissioners recently that his office selected one of a few design options to replace the bridge near the Fairbanks school district campus.

“For the alignment, we’re slightly offsetting it 40 or 50 feet to the east,” he said. “It would still maintain that same intersection with (Route) 38.”

Stauch said if you were to look south at the bridge, away from Fairbanks, the new bridge will slide a bit to the left and point back to the intersection in a more direct way. Changing the alignment will help make the intersection of Streng Road, Orchard Road and Route 38 a mor…
