Grant program helps small communities

CDBG grant program appears safe for now

Efforts are still moving forward to get assistance to some of the smaller communities in Union County through the federal government’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.

Despite earlier concerns that the program might go away, Thomas Perry with the Community Development Consultants (CDC) of Ohio, told the county commissioners on Aug. 6 that might not be the case.

“Congress has put money back in the budget for CDBG,” he said. “They put it at $3.3 billion in the House, $3.1 billion in the Senate, obviously it’s got to go through reconciliation, it may not get signed, it may go to a continuing resolution like they usually do, so we don…
