Former officer Coy sentenced

A former Ohio Police Officer in the shooting death of Andre Hill was sentenced 15 years to life in prison.

Adam Coy, a North Union High School graduate, was a 17-year veteran of the Columbus Police Department. He was charged with murder, reckless homicide and felonious assault on Dec. 22, 2020.

Coy will get the opportunity for parole after 15 years. He plans on appealing the conviction as he believes the jury made the wrong decision.

Back in 2020, Coy had arrived in the neighborhood to investigate a resident’s complaint about noise from a running car when he came across Hill.
