NU FFA poultry team places top 15 at state contest

The North Union FFA attended this year’s Spring Career Development (CDE) contests at the Ohio State Fairgrounds on March 22. The Poultry Management CDE was one of the many contests held.
In this competition, students select both live meat-type chickens and egg-type hens, rate finished products, meat products and evaluate and grade eggs.
High school FFA members Ava Smith, Allison Stacklin, Wyatt Stacklin and Josiah Stover got to be a part of the Poultry State team. The team placed 15 overall.
At the middle school level, Lily Hall, McKenzie Spencer, Jenson Stover, Miri Taylor and Joseph Wiley represented the Middle School Poultry team. McKenzie placed fifth individually and the team placed fifth overall.
NU FFA outdoor power team excels at district competition

The North Union FFA competed at the Outdoor Power Career Development Event (formally known as the Small Engine CDE). The competition took place on April 9 at the Tri-Rivers Career Center in Marion, Ohio.
In this CDE, students are required to identify tools and fluids, troubleshoot different engines, diagnose internal problems of engines and identify customer problems and determine the best action to solve their problems.
FFA members Mason Cox, Carter Hamilton and Carter Hartings represented North Union. The team placed fifth out of 36 at the district competition.
