Richwood man charged with rape of young relatives

A Richwood man is facing as many as 98 years in prison for raping three female children that were under the ages of 10.

The Union County Grand Jury has charged Michel Brian Nelson, 65, of 130 E. Blagrove St., in Richwood, with four counts of gross sexual imposition, one count of pandering obscenity involving a minor and seven counts of rape, which are all first degree felony counts that carry a maximum of 10 years each. According to court documents, the charges stem from incidents over the course of 14 years, from June 28, 2011 to April 2, 2025.

Union County Prosecutor Dave Phillips said that Nelson is related to the victims, but did not want to specify the relationship to keep the identities of the children hidden. He said …
