NU FFA demonstrate knowledge in livestock

By Carley Berridge, North Union FFA Reporter

The North Union FFA participated in the Livestock Judging Career Development Event (CDE) state competition at the Ohio State Fairgrounds on March 22.

Students had to judge both market and breeding classes of livestock, which included beef, swine, sheep and goats. They then had to judge a keep/cull class of sheep and fill out a market grid. Throughout the competition, students were in charge of making accurate observations and deciding on desirable traits and selecting livestock accordingly.

High School team members consisted of Carley Berridge, Connor Cobb, Peyton Engle, Celia Jones, Will Jones and Emma Justice.

This year, the North Union FFA Chapter was pleased to have a Middle School team to compete at the Middle School level. Team members included Tera Fout, Tinlee Martino and Jadyn Rowe.
