NUMS hoopsters take second in conference tourmament

The North Union Middle School eighth-grade girls basketball team finished in the runnerup spot of the Central Buckeye Conference tournament.

The Lady Cats lost 42-21 to London in the championship game last Saturday.

Chloe McElroy, Tinlee Martino and Kellyn Ufferman each scored six points while Lily Hall snared five rebounds.

In the semifinal contest played earlier in the week North Union defeated Northwestern 45-23.

Martino led the way with 17 points with Ufferman scoring nine markers. Emmy Eastman grabbed 12 rebounds.

Eighth-grade boys

North Union advanced to the semifinal round of the Central Buckeye Conference boys eighth-grade tournament with a 38-26 win over Northwestern on Monday.

Ben Newell netted 11 points to lead the Wildcats while Hayden Young and Cain Holloway each had five points.
