Planning begins for big bridge move

Plans are underway for the relocation of the Streng Road Bridge in southern Union County.

Engineer Jeff Stauch said, given the historic nature of the bridge, the removal may be complicated so the county has some requests for proposals (RFP) currently out to consultants. He said that will give the office a better idea of exactly how the removal process could happen.

“Right now, where we are (is) the selection of the consultant, the kick-off process for the RFP is due at the end of the month and then we’ll score those, review them and interview consultants,” Stauch said.

Plans are set for the bridge, located on Streng Road, right off Route 38 near the Fairbanks school campus, to be relocated to Uptow…
