Dave Burke ends career of public service

Union County Commissioner Dave Burke signed off, bringing what he called a “20-year blessing in public service” to a close.

At the Dec. 18 county commissioners meeting, Burke made his parting remarks to the board since he will not be at the meetings for the remainder of the year. Burke did not run for re-election for another term and will be replaced by Tom McCarthy starting next year.

“It’s been amazing, the trust people put into you and hopefully I’ve reflected that in the things I’ve done. In particularly, over the last four years, I’m very happy to serve with Commissioner (Steve) Robinson and Commissioner (Dave) Lawrence,” he said.
