The North Union wrestling program opened its season last Thursday as it hosted four other teams for the North Union Scramble.
No team scores were kept, but NU Head Coach Garret Andrews said the early-season competition is very beneficial, especially with the addition of a girls team.
“This was an exciting event for the Wildcats and it marked the first time our girls team was able to step on the mat,” Andrews said. “We are going to take this experience and eagerly build off the success that we had.”
Elgin, Mount Gilead, River Valley and Whitehall joined North Union for the meet.
Earning two wins each for North Union were Landan Long. Jaxon Mabery. Jack Kemp. Luke Brown and Rylan Riffle.
Collin Welch, Braxton Kelson, Jaystin Beeney, Corey Gillium, Kory Ransome, Jason Rankin, Cameron Ludwig, Riley Horne and Allana Smith each won one match.
