Richwood Opera House under new zoning

Richwood officials are looking to re-zone the Opera House before listing the building for sale.

At a recent meeting, council voted unanimously in a motion to create an ordinance to zone the Opera House out of the medium density residential district (R-2) and into the central business district (B-3).

In September, council voted to put the Opera House up for sale, with the caveat that there would be deed restrictions that would limit what potential buyers could do with the building.

Council President Reddy Brown said that they had to look at the zoning because one of the deed restrictions they wanted for the building was that it would not be used for apartments.
