Union County Airport board dealing with a pair of issues

The Union County Airport Authority is looking to fix water drainage and fuel line issues at the Airport.

At the regular meeting of the Airport Authority, Board President Steve Koenig said there was an issue with the fuel tanks with water that would not drain around the tanks.

“The pump that has been used for years and years and years, pretty much gave up the ghost and when they went to pump, the piping that the water flows into is completely crushed,” Koenig said.

He said they were unable to get the water flowing and draining away from the fuel tank, so they are currently using a temporary sump pump above ground to pump out the water around the tanks “almost daily.”
