More than 78% of Union County voters cast ballots

More than three-quarters of all eligible voters in Union County voted in the Nov. 5 election and nearly half cast their ballot before Election Day.

According to the Union County Board of Elections, 37,311 Union County residents, 78.79% of the county’s registered voters, participated in the Nov. 5 election. Of that, 22,240 voters, 47.5% of registered voters in the county, cast early ballots.

Brandon Clay, director of the board of elections, said this is the first time that he knows of when early voting topped voting on the day of the election.
