Justice named acting sheriff

Former Union County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Justice has been named the new acting sheriff, a position he will assume effective Nov. 1.

At Wednesday’s meeting, the Union County Commissioners unanimously appointed Justice as the acting county sheriff.

“I am looking forward to it. I know the staff is looking forward to it,” Justice said, adding that he is “humbled” by the appointment. “I am looking forward to getting started for the citizens of the county.”

Justice is taking over for current county sheriff, Jamie Patton, who is retiring at the end of the month.
