UCSO releases details of fatal Oct. 11 crash

The Union County Sheriff’s Office has released details about a fatal crash that claimed the life of a Marion area resident last Friday.

Casey L. Hayes, 34, of Marion, was killed in a rollover crash on Friday, Oct. 11. According to the sheriff’s office investigation, Hayes was driving a 2011 Honda Pilot on Martin Welch Road and turning left onto Sandusky Road at an excessive speed, which caused a temporary spare tire on the vehicle to fail. Hayes then lost control, drove off the roadway and rolled over multiple times and ended in a farm field. Hayes was ejected during the crash and not wearing a seatbelt.
