Richwood campsites being used by homeless individuals

Village officials are having issues with homeless groups camping at Richwood Park.

At a previous meeting of Richwood Council, Fiscal Officer Sarah Sellers said they are dealing with people not wanting to leave when renting camping space. She said she has never asked if they are homeless, but the police have and confirmed they are.

She said the current village ordinance states that campers can stay four consecutive nights, but it doesn’t say anything after that.

“It doesn’t say that they can’t move to another site, it doesn’t say they have to leave, it doesn’t say they have to leave for a certain amount of time before they can come back,” Sellers said.
