Man alleged to have strangled 5-year-old

A Richwood man could be facing more than two years in prison after allegedly strangling a 5-year-old.

The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Zachary Evan Travis, 28, of 33033 Fields Road, Richwood.

Travis is charged with one count each of strangulation, domestic violence and endangering children.

Assistant Union County Prosecutor Melissa Chase said that at about 1:30 p.m., July 13, the five-year old child was arguing with an adult family member. According to court documents, Travis allegedly grabbed a child by the back of the neck, “then put the other hand on his throat.”

“Then he squeezed,” Chase explained…
