John Daniel McElroy

 

John Daniel McElroy, known affectionately to many as “Dan” or “Mac,” passed away peacefully on July 15, 2024, at the age of 72. He was born on February 20, 1952, in Kenton, Ohio. Dan is survived by his longtime partner, Esther Brown, his children Clinton (Lizzie) McElroy and Kara (Alex) Grant, his adoring grandchildren Eli, Ava, Sophia, and Vivian, as well as his brother Jeff (Linda) McElroy. He was predeceased by his parents Bernie and Mary McElroy (Bevis).

Dan was an adventurous and nature loving spirit with many talents. He graduated from North Union High School in 1970, lettering in five varsity sports (Football, Basketball, Baseball, Track, and Cross Country). Including the 1969-70 basketball season where the “Cinderella Team” w…
