Officials and volunteers are getting the Union County Fairgrounds ready for next week’s county fair. Above, Larry Paver, helps mulch flower beds on the fairgrounds. Union County Fair set to kick off this weekend

 

The Union County Fair begins in less than a week.

The 178th Union County Fair begins Sunday and runs through July 27.

Organizers have expressed their excitement about several returning events including the open class art show and the demolition derby.

Michelle Kuhlwein, with the Union County Fair Board, said that for a time entries in the open class art show were declining.

She said the Marysville Art League reached out to the fair board and “were very excited to be able to take that over and do that.”

The fair will have 26 categories in the open art class. The art will be judged at the beginning of the fair and be on display through the fair in the Merchant …
