Lady Cats kick off winter campaign against Lady Pirates

There may have been some pregame jitters as the North Union girls basketball team took the floor for the opening game of the 2023-24 season.

If that was the case, those jitters quickly went away as the Lady Cats hosted Cardington-Lincoln.

Sparked by an 18-3 edge in the first quarter, North Union bested the Lady Pirates 60-40.

“I was still nervous,” said senior Audrey Benedict, adding that she was playing her last first game of the season. “It was helpful for us to get out to the early lead. It got everybody going and allowed us to have the momentum.”

Head Coach Bre Jackson was pleased to get a win in the opening contest.
